their day at the Grain Academy Museum. Here are some comments from

Program: Food on the Move

Using our 35 metre long railway model, areas of discussion include:
Canada's rail transportation system, Canadian transportation solution,
costs and volumes of exporting grain, major markets for Canadian grain and
the future of Canada's export grain business.

To answer this question, we use our visual learning centre showing the
diverse uses of grain and oil seeds. All major grains of importance
to mankind are discussed, and students are encouraged to identify and
determine the uses of grain. Quality factors and grading systems are
also discussed.

A tour of our artifact walls, guided by an interpreter, helps students
identify tools and equipment used by the early farmers of Alberta.
Students are encouraged to ask questions, and some artifacts are
specifically labeled to stimulate speculation.

The working model elevator provides a cross-sectional view of a grain
elevator. It's a revealing look at the working parts of the
"Prairie Sentinel".

This program takes grain use one step further than the "What is
Grain?" display. Students move through 4 areas: The Grain Hut,
Seeds of Alberta, Mars Bars and Beer, and the Old Flour Mill. Each
area is designed to enhance the impact of grain on our daily lives.
